Principal's Family
David Oakland
Nancy's husband David Oakland, is also a double-Hoo graduate of the University of Virginia (B.S. Architecture 1976 and Master of Architecture 1978). He is one of the founding principals of VMDO Architects, a firm whose many projects are at UVA and include the recent Wilsdorf Hall, JPJ Arena, the Carl Smith Stadium, and Hereford College. In addition to loving travel, hiking, and reading, David would relish any interests in the community for a round of golf or a sailing excursion.
Hannah Takahashi Oakland
After college, Hannah worked as a Health Advocacy Professional Services Associate for the Medicare Rights Center a national, non-profit consumer service organization that helps older adults understand their Medicare rights and benefits. Pursuing her interest in geriatric health, she is now entering her second year of medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC. A 2007 Yale graduate (religious studies major/Trumbull College), she is an active sailor and runner.
Milo Mason Oakland
Milo graduated as a politics major from UVA in 2010 and is pursuing his studies toward a career in physical therapy. He continues his life-long, left-footed, mid-fielder soccer career as the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Western Albemarle High School squad, where he played for four years. Also a talented musician, Milo can be heard playing the piano up at Vaughan House.
Noah Oakland
Having grown up at Hereford since age 11, Noah is now a Senior at Western Albemarle High School. He can be seen around Hereford shooting hoops at Upper Vaughan and honing his ball skills for his high school soccer season as a defender and team captain. His plans are to study engineering in college.
Emert Oakland
Lastly, weighing in at 100 pounds is Emert, the family's slobbering and exuberant, but very sweet yellow Lab, who would enjoy a walk, run (or biscuit) anytime of the day.
