Schaeffer Somers is a professional grazer, who started out as an Aerospace Engineer at UVA as an undergraduate and helped design software for astronaut training in the Space Station Program at Johnson Space Center. His day job is teaching Architecture and Public Health Sciences—Schaeffer and Wendy co-teach a course in the Fall called the Built Environment & Public Health: Local to Global. He also plays and coaches soccer so you might seem him practicing his skills in the Hereford grass or muttering coaching points to himself. Schaeffer also likes talking about the design of Hereford and the Vaughan House, so feel free to ask for a tour when you visit. On weekends you will find Schaeffer playing soccer with his daughters or walking their dog on the trails of O-Hill.
Zoe and Hannah
Zoe and Hannah are both born and raised in Charlottesville and will be entering 8th grade and 6th grades respectively at the Village School. When they are not practicing their Latin vocabulary or doing their other homework, they can be found playing soccer or enjoying their new puppy. Both girls enjoy meeting students at Hereford and treating themselves to the soft-serve ice cream and soda fountains at Runk Dining Hall.
